Yesterday morning the sun was warm and the sky was cloud swept. Living on the top of a hill we are exposed to the elements and most days there’s a good breeze. Yesterday, however, there was a strong, fierce wind. John and I had some work to do in the garden stringing a trellis to support our peas. Trying to attach the peas in the wild wind was proving fruitless so John just puttered at some weeding.
I faced the wind enjoying the feel of it against my body. I felt like Mother was expressing her power and calling me to commune with her. If we hadn’t had neighbors, I’d have been tempted to strip off all my clothes but alas, I wasn’t that brave. 😉 Instead, I started swaying my body and arms and tuning into the sensations of the wind on various parts of my exposed skin.
She caressed me and I, her and we joined in an intuitive dance. I felt safe and loved in her embrace. I sat on the grass and focussed on my arms, hands and face. I curled my fingers around feeling the wind in between them and on my palms. My hair blew wildly and I closed my eyes facing into the direction of the wind. It reminded me of sailing. And yes, I pulled a Titanic at one point standing straight with my arms wide open. Couldn’t resist. 😉
This brief experience was so beautifully sensual and serene. I really do want to find an opportunity to do the same thing ‘oh natural’ sometime soon. Dancing with Nature is definitely a practice I want to experiment with more.
If this intrigues you at all, you might want to check out my friend, Susan Sundance’s offerings. She had a free ‘8 Day Dance Celebration’ to inspire you to explore this magical way of relating to Nature and expressing yourself. She’ll be having more events in the future.
If you’ve never done it, I can’t recommend it enough. It will push you out of your comfort zone and rekindle your wild spirit like nothing else. 🙂 I’m daring you.
Go Wild,
Diana
I live far away from you, but used to live in Ontario. There used to be ‘Sacred Dancing Groups’ that met once a week to enjoy ‘Dance Meditation.’ It was wonderful and incorporated physical exercise at the same time. 💖
