Be Brave and Shine On!
I have a beautiful new client who is out bravely serving the world with her talents and creativity. She loves what she does but unfortunately when a person shines their light, inevitably the haters start to creep out of the woodwork.
She wants me in her corner to keep her strong and bandage her wounds.
I’ve been meeting a lot of solopreneurs out here in the WorldWideWeb and we’re all working hard to integrate our talents, passions, and strengths into a business which serves the world in a much-needed way while providing ourselves a livelihood. This is not an easy feat, however, for many of us, it isn’t a choice. We are called. Denying your deepest callings leads to a small crippling life.
It dawned on me that at some point, we’re all going to have to deal with the very unpleasant issue of haters.
Are You Being Called?
Even if you’re not an entrepreneur, maybe you’re out in the world shining your light in a different way. Whatever the situation, the truth is, when you try to live a life of meaning you inevitably make someone uncomfortable. Some may be confused by what you’re doing, for others, it might trigger jealousy. People can react in all kind of weird and not so wonderful ways. It’s not the intent of this article to help you understand why.
I just need you to know, it’s not about You!
One thing is guaranteed. If you’re brave enough to live by your heart’s and soul’s choices, if you have the courage to buck the status-quo and live by your own deep wisdom’s code, you are going to attract haters and naysayers. 😦
~ haters, trolls, naysayers, critics, bullies. ~ The name is of little importance and so are they.
It’s a sad and frustrating fact that there will always be someone who feels a need to drag you down and keep you down.
The worst part is, because you’re a heart-centered person, you can’t understand why anyone would have a need to do this. Just trust Dear One, there are a million reasons why and not a single one of them has to do with you. To search for these elusive reasons puts too much emphasis on them. Let them deal with their own reasons. Your job is to keep shining.
No, this isn’t easy. But there’re ways to buffer the hurt and rise stronger each time.

- Read all of Brene Brown’s books, especially Daring Greatly and Rising Strong
- Connect with other ‘light shiners’ and create mutual support agreements.
- If you have family and friends who ‘get you’, lean on them. Let them remind you how magnificent you are. ( Be so grateful for them because so many of us don’t have this.)
- Find a Coach who can help you navigate these turbulent waters and who will always have your back.
- Connect with Nature to renew your strength. She can be your source for healing and empowerment.
- Print off ‘The Man in the Arena’ quote below, hang it somewhere prominent and read it daily.

Don’t allow the critics to dictate your life. They can’t even manage their own. Don’t give your power to them. Simply pray that they find their way out of their own pain.
And remember you never have to do it alone!
