Disconnect to Reconnect
We are living in high-tech times. Whether you work for someone else or have your own business like I do, chances are you rely on your computer, phone and other devices to fill your days and duties. For small and large businesses alike, websites, blogs and social media presence are becoming a must, on top of whatever other duties require doing in our digitalized days.
We also connect socially through our devices, talking, texting, Skyping, Facebooking. Technology has been a blessing and a curse to the human race. Many of us can be downright addicted to our devices. This is especially and sadly true for our youth.
It’s so important to strive for balance with this, as with everything in a healthy lifestyle.
It’s important to disconnect from technology in order to reconnect with each other, Nature and ourselves in any meaningful way.
Our devices are invaluable for having information at our fingertips. You can, learn to do just about anything on YouTube, connect instantly with someone or many someones on the other side of the globe, be entertained with endless media options, Google anyone or anything and even do all your shopping. The list is never ending and forever growing.
But as limitless as the possibilities may seem, you will never be able to truly connect, on a deep level, with Nature or another human being, through your devices.
For your mental, physical and spiritual health, disconnecting from your devices on a regular basis is crucial. The following articles make that clear.

Hey, I’m not here to judge. I’m not in a position to judge. 😉 How much time you ultimately spend on devices will be a highly personal decision but I do have some suggestions for time well spent while disconnected.
- Get out for a walk in nature.
- Meet with someone, in person, and just talk. Hugs are good too.
- Take off your shoes and walk on the earth.
- Create something, art, music, a meal, anything that gets the right hemisphere of your brain happily firing.
- Play with your child(ren) or pet(s) (outside if weather permits).
- Join an in-person group that does non-digital activities you enjoy.
- Plant a garden or commune with your plants.
- Hug a tree. Yes, really! 😉
- Exercise. Do some yoga.
- Meditate
Do any or all of these activities on a regular basis and you’ll feel the benefits, I promise.
In-person connection has no equal. As a human being, you were built for it. Deep connection demands your full attention. The lack of deep connection can have devastating effects. Addiction, in its many forms, is just one.
Find your balance. The one that’s right just for you.
Wild Love,
Diana
